Pee wee boys fourth and fifth grade recap

Thursday, Feb. 25 the Piggott fourth and fifth grade boy's All Star traveling team ended their 2009-10 season with a win over the Corning Bobcats. The boys finished their season with a record of 8 and 6, winning eight of their last 10 games. The team consisted of four fifth graders and seven fourth graders, and did well after starting the season with four straight losses.

At that point of the season the kids could have hung it up, but they didn't. Even in the losses every kid gave it their all right up to the final buzzer. The focus was on effort and improvement, and the team was rewarded for that effort and finished the season strong.

On a personal note, I couldn't be more proud of these kids. We set out this year to have fun, learn to play a great game and develop as both basketball players and young men. I think we did all those things, and I'm certain we had a good time. I want to thank all the parents, you've raised a great group and I thank you for all being so easy to work with. Without your time and effort, none of this would have been possible. A special thanks to Jeff, Gina, Wade, Erica, Leeann, Coach Robbins, Coach Harrell, Amber, Monte and Billy Jo for all the time you volunteer. It's been a pleasure and I'm looking forward to working with you in the future.

Finally, a word going forward. This group has a ton of potential. If they continue to work hard and develop we can all look forward to big things from them. The fifth graders were without a doubt the heart of this team. Their leadership was crucial to the team's success. The fourth graders had a great opportunity to play against older and more developed kids, and they benefited from playing-up tremendously. Everyone did a fantastic job. They were eager to learn, and never backed away from a challenge. They were great representatives of Piggott and we can all be proud.
