Piggott High School observed senior night Thursday, Feb. 11, for members of the Mohawk boys and girls basketball teams and the PHS cheerleading squad. At the conclusion of the festivities, the senior boys hosted the Harrisburg Hornets and dropped a conference decision.

This year's boys team has only one senior, with Trent Edwards as the only member of the class of 2010. Edwards, the son of Steve and LuAnn Edwards, has played Mohawk basketball six years and was an All-District selection for the Mohawk tennis team last fall. He also will play this spring for the PHS baseball squad as he has the last three seasons.

The Lady Mohawks have three seniors. First-year coach Alan Rabjohn said they will be missed.

McCluskey, the daughter of Della and Tim McCluskey, has played Lady Mohawk basketball nine years. Coomer, daughter of Dane and Tonya Coomer, also has been involved in the Piggott basketball program for nine years. Meanwhile, Johnson, the daughter of James and Tess Johnson, has been a member of the squad for a total of seven seasons. All three have plans of advancing their educations and will attend college in the fall.

Five members of the PHS cheerleading squad will graduate this spring, including: Corrie Lehmann, daughter of Larry and Patty Lehman; Shayna Nicole Duffy, daughter of Anita and Howard Duffy; Amber Broadway, daughter of Sherry and Rick Galyean and Eugene Broadway; Camista Brooke Sanders, daughter of Peggy Newsom, and exchange student Mariya Faka, daughter of Stepan and Iryna Faka.

Broadway has been a member of the cheerleading squad for six years, Lehmann has five years on the squad, Duffy has two years at PHS but a total of nine throughout her school career, Sanders has been on the squad for two years and Faka joined at the start of the current basketball season.
