Last week we reported that longtime Lady Mohawk volleyball coach Melissa Williams had been afforded the honor to serve as an assistant coach for the All-State volleyball squad from the east in the annual game in June. Later that day the rosters for both teams were released, and one of Williams' players has been named as an All-Star for her performance on the hardwood.

Senior Kelsey Nagy, daughter of Brian and Teresa Nagy of Piggott, has been selected as one of just two players from 3A for the East All-Star squad. The team will be coached by Marion's Lisa Beasley, with Williams serving as an assistant along with Kelly O'Rourke of Mount St. Mary and Vicki Gatewood of Nettleton. Angie Baker of Huntsville is coach of the west squad, and her assistants include Brandy Chumley of Benton, Jessica Phelan of Fayetteville and Brent Reeves of Mansfield.

Despite a distinct size disadvantage, Nagy made a good showing for the Lady Mohawks this year at the net and in the back court.

Joining her on the East squad will be regional players--Katie Howe of Crowley's Ridge Academy, Hailey Tate and Mollie Arnold of Westside, Haleigh Loyd of Valley View, Madison Rupard and Staci Ho of Nettleton, Mallory Russell of Greene County Tech and Alex Aycock of Jonesboro. The team also features players from Marion, Mount St. Mary, North Little Rock and Conway.

The volleyball All-Star game will be played at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 23 in Barnhill Arena on the campus of the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville.
