June Morris, Piggott;s first lady, dead at age 76

The city of Piggott lost its first lady Thursday, Nov. 12, when June Morris died at her home after a courageous battle of more than three years with cancer. Family members were at her side. She was 76.

A large crowd gathered Sunday evening at Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home for visitation. Funeral services Monday morning were held at the First General Baptist Church of Piggott, where she was a longtime member and former church treasurer.

Those taking part in the service included the pastor, Joe Payne, Rev. Gary Morris, Ed Morris and Rev. Ron Black. Special music was provided by Keith Morris, Craig and Donna Morris and Rev. Kevin Morris.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the food bank at the First General Baptist Church of Piggott. A complete obituary may be found on page 7.
