The Mohawk defense made several goal-line stands, while Steve Champ and John Threet each had a pass interception and Mackey Donner recovered a late fumble to secure the win. The remainder of the Piggott scoring came on Tim Huffman field goals of 12 and 16 yards. Next week the Tribe will host Corning with the outright conference title on the line.

It's official, after months of speculation Mayor George Cook called a meeting of community leaders this week to announce that Brown Shoe Company is closing. The factory was built in 1947, and still employed 250 people at the time. The layoffs were expected to begin by the first of December. At one time the factory employed over 650 people, and its closure leaves only Pocahontas as the final Brown Shoe facility in Arkansas.
