Murphy Health recognizes volunteers

Thursday, April 30, 2009
"Volunteers Plant Seeds of Kindness" was the theme for this year's volunteer appreciation banquet for Murphy Health and Rehabilitation in Piggott. The event, which was held recently in the Hope Center of New Hope Baptist Church in Pollard, offered the facility the opportunity to honor its many volunteers.

Each of the volunteers on hand was given a certificate, along with packages of various flower seeds in keeping with the theme. The volunteers from New Hope were also honored as the group of the year. In making the presentation it was noted that the congregation hosts regular church services at Murphy Health and have also regularly brought gifts to the residents.

The entertainment included a poem "Sowing Seeds of Kindness" by Linda Elkins and concluded with a skit performed by the Murphy staff. Administrator Glenda Spicer also presented a plaque to Anita Rodery as the "Volunteer of the Year."
