Final planning is underway for the 11th annual Piggott Heritage Park Car Show, which is coming up next month.

The car show, which draws hundreds of entries from across the Southeastern United States, will be held May 16 and is presented by the Piggott Area Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with Clay County Relay For Life teams.

The event, which annually draws thousands of spectators, will include a variety of popular attractions, such as the cruise, car blow-up and 50/50 drawing. There will also be some new kid's games, along with the usual food, fun and live entertainment along the banks of Heritage Park Lake.

The majority of the car show activities will take place Saturday at Heritage Park, culminating with the annual cruise through town that evening.

Admission to the park Saturday is $3 for everyone age 14 and older. The day's activities will begin with a breakfast from 6 to 9:30 a.m. Cost of the breakfast is $4 per person, and the meal is being served by the SuperCruise Group.

Throughout the day there will be a variety of games, drawings and music from DJ Steve Southard. The Spoke-N-Word chapter of the Christian Motorcyclist Club will operate a food stand offering cheeseburgers, hamburgers, barbecued bologna sandwiches, drinks and sweet treats.

Of course, the highlight of the day will be the annual cruise, as hundreds of cars and trucks will parade through the streets of Piggott and assemble on the court square. The event has become a huge part of the weekend and regularly draws thousands of spectators.

There also will be live entertainment on the square that evening featuring "Kenny and the Flashbacks" as they fill the air with the sounds of the 50's, 60's and 70's. Organizers also noted some of the Relay For Life teams will be running concession stands and added many of the downtown merchants will be open that evening.

Those who want more information on the car show may contact the Piggott Area Chamber of Commerce at 870 598-3167 or by email at pchamber@piggott.net.

Information also is available at the car show's website at www.piggottcarshow.com.
