The Pollard Fire Department and Auxiliary hosted "Christmas in the Park" Saturday, Dec. 13, at the community center in that town. A good crowd of residents both young and old turned out for the event, and all donations went to help several local families during the holiday season.

Kids were greeted at the door by Santa Claus, and each got a gift to mark the occasion and their photo with the old elf. Those attending also had the chance to decorate an ornament for the community Christmas tree, but a problem with the lighting forced the cancellation of the lighting ceremony this year.

The Pollard Post Office also set up a special cancellation station at the community center on Saturday, and were cancelling letters and cards with a special stamp marking the occasion.

A total of five Pollard-area families were to be aided by this year's event, as canned foods and monetary donations were made by those in attendance.

As the photos indicate--both young and old enjoyed the event. Shown on Santa's lap are Wilma Allen of Pollard (above) and Jason Kilbreath of Rector (below). Jason is the son of Jonathan and Kandy Kilbreath.
