The Piggott Lady Mohawk golf team has been on a roll the past couple of weeks, first winning the district title at Sugar Creek Country Club, then capturing the regional crown at Victory Lake in Corning. With the regional win the Lady Mohawks qualify to play in the state golf tournament next week in Hot Springs. Members of the squad include Allison Gurley, Alex Scheffler and Breanna Wright.

The team, which is coached by PHS golf coach Nikki Speer, took the district crown at SCCC behind Scheffler's third place finish. Low medalist was Byshea Bowers, and medalist was Courtney Briney, both are from Corning. Other teams competing in the district were Manila and Tuckerman.

In the regional tournament at Corning Briney was low medalist, while Samantha Anderton of Rose Bud took medalist honors for her second place finish. The Lady Mohawks competed against Corning, Rose Bud and Brinkley to take the first place trophy.

The Piggott girls' golf team is scheduled to play Monday, Sept. 29, in the state tournament on the Balboa course at Hot Springs.
