The district tournament consisted of 27 player representing teams from Piggott, Corning, Manila, Brookland, Tuckerman, Harrisburg and Rivercrest. At the conclusion of the event Rivercrest took the top honors led by Chris Predmore with a 71. The Colts finished with a team total of 251 on the day, followed by Manila and Brookland with scores of 256. All three of the teams automatically advance to the 3A Regional two tournament Sept. 21 and 22 in Searcy.
Six individual players also qualified for the regional tournament by virtue of their scores, and that group was paced by Piggott's Hayden McMillon with a 79. He'll be joined by another PHS sophomore as Tanner Murray qualified with a 94. The other players advancing were all Corning Bobcats, and included Zack Brown with an 84, Michael Sollis with a 97, Beau Bauschlicher with a 102 and Timmy Bass with a 103.
The remaining members of the Mohawk team, who did not qualify to advance to the regionals, were Patrick Patterson and Gage Langley.
The district tournament was hosted by the Mohawk golf team, and coach Nikki Speer.
