The Piggott Lady Mohawk volleyball team has been very busy in the past week, playing four regular season matches and taking third place honors at the Slamfest in Harrison on Saturday. The trip to Harrison over the weekend also included a win over conference rivals, and two-times defending state champion, Brookland. Tuesday afternoon the Tribe was scheduled to host the Lady Bearcats in an important conference match at PHS.

Last Tuesday the Lady Mohawks visited Valley View for a non-conference tune-up and dropped the match 14-25, 7-25 and 14-25 in straight games. The Lady Blazers also took the junior match 16-25 and 15-25 along with the junior "B" match and the seventh grade game.

On Thursday the Mohawks returned to winning form in conference as they beat Harrisburg in four games, 27-25, 25-18, 20-25 and 25-11. The junior girl's also won their match 25-15 and 25-8, and took the junior "B" game and seventh grade match to complete the sweep.

The Lady Mohawks made the long, but familiar, trip to Harrison on Saturday to take part in this year's "Slamfest" tournament and brought home the third place trophy.

In the first match the Tribe beat Greenbrier 25-15, 19-25 and 15-13. In the second match they collided with eventual champions, Springdale Har-Ber, and fell 6-25 and 12-25. In their final match they met the Bearcats and won 25-23, 12-25 and 15-8.

Monday afternoon the Lady Mohawks returned to action as they played host to the Lady Yellowjackets of Bay. In the first match of the afternoon the junior "B" team took a 25-19 win, followed by a two game sweep by the junior squad 25-9 and 25-16. The senior girls completed the sweep with a three game win in the nightcap 25-14, 25-11 and 25-10.

Following Tuesday's home match against the Brookland Coach Melissa Williams and the girls were scheduled to visit Hoxie this Thursday and the junior team will take part a tournament at Valley View this Friday and Saturday. The senior girls will be back in action at home next Tuesday as the Tribe hosts Crowley's Ridge Academy at PHS.
