Edith Ellis

Edith Ellis, 87, of Maynard, died Thursday, Aug. 28, 2008, in the Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould.

She was born July 19, 1921, in Hardburly, Ky., the daughter of the late Curtis and Martha (Williams) Gayhart.

She married Charles Ellis on April 5, 1944, and the couple had six children.

Her parents, Curtis and Martha, a grandchild, and her brother, Homer Gayheart, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her husband, Charles Ellis of Maynard; six children, Charles Ellis and wife Marjorie of Durand, Mich., Alvin O. Ellis and wife Linda of Doniphan, Mo., Robert Ellis and wife Patricia of Swartz Creek, Mich., Martha Grantham and husband Roy of Crossett, Ark., Aileen Tallman and husband Robert of Maynard, and Gerald Ellis and wife Renee of Weston, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; two sisters, Opal Goodsmith of Arizona and Olivean Caldwell of Indiana, and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 1, in Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Al Feezor officiating. Burial was in New Hope Cemetery at Pollard.

Pallbearers were Joe Ellis, Rick Ellis, Derek Gunsell, Allen Ellis, Elmer Williams and Delmar Williams. Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott was in charge of the arrangements. The family requests memorials be made to New Horizons Children's Home, P.O. Box 549, Goldthwaite, Texas, 76844.
