W. Allen Cheesman

W. Allen Cheesman, 46, of White Hall died Monday, June 23, 2008.

He was born Oct. 4, 1961, in Pine Bluff to Sam and Phyllis Cheesman. He grew up in Pine Bluff, attending Trinity Episcopal School and graduating from Jefferson Preparatory School in 1980 and from Hendrix College in 1984. He also attended graduate school at North Texas State University. After college he worked and lived in Arkansas and later Texas, returning to Pine Bluff in June of 2000.

On May 25, 1991, he was married to Susan South, a native of Piggott, and the couple had three children, William Allen, Michelle Rae and Melanie Ruth.

He is survived by his wife and children; his father, Dr. Sam Cheesman; his sisters, Bea Cheesman of Pine Bluff and Cara Barrentine of Gainesville, Ga.; four nephews, and brother-in-law Jeff Barrentine. He was preceded in death by his mother and his grandparents.

He was an active member of the Grace Episcopal Church, where he served on the vestry, the parish life committee, the men's club and in numerous other capacities.

Funeral services were held Saturday, June 28, at the Grace Episcopal Church with the Rev. Dr. Cheryl Clark officiating. The family suggests that memorials be made to the building fund of the Grace Episcopal Church, 4101 South Hazel Street, Pine Bluff, AR 71603; to ARORA, or the charity of the donor's choice.
