Basketball fundraiser

Wednesday, March 5, 2008
A basketball skills fundraiser has been planned for Saturday, March 15 at the old Piggott High School gym with the proceeds going toward the medical bills of Erica Rickman. Activities are scheduled to get underway at 9 a.m. with registration, and will be going on throughout the day. The highlight of the event will be held at 7 p.m. that evening with a basketball game between the Piggott and Rector "All-Stars".

The first competition of the day at 10 a.m. will be an old-fashioned "Pig" tournament. That will be followed at 1 p.m. by the free-throw contest, and at 3:30 p.m. there will be a "Hot Shot" shooting competition. Competitors will be divided into age groups in each category and all ages are invited to compete. There is a five dollar charge for each competition you choose to enter.

The main event will be held at 7 p.m. that evening as the Piggott All-Stars take on the Rector All-Stars, admission is $2.00 for adults and one dollar for students. At halftime Erica Rickman and her family will be honored, and the awards will be handed-out to the winners of the various events.

Registration will be going on beginning at 9 a.m. for all events, but participants are urged to check-in within 30 minutes prior to the start of their chosen competition.

Everyone is encouraged to come out and support an excellent cause. Those wanting more information may contact Billy Joe Seal at 324-0681 or Tim Blair at 324-0613.
