He was a five-year Army veteran and was an avid camper.
He was married to Ruby Burdin in 1952. They divorced and were re-married in 1994.
In addition to his parents, those preceding him in death were a son, Bennie Maddux; a granddaughter, Dana Burdin Brand; two brothers, Virgil and Cleo Maddux, and two sisters, Audrey Maddux and Ellen Kassinger.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby Maddux of Piggott; a sister, Minnie Mae Crowell of Illinois; a step-son, Terry Burdin and wife Carolyn of Illinois; three grandsons, Terry Burdin and wife Sarah of Rector, Bennie Scmitt of Florida and Aaron Gotham of Michigan; two granddaughters, Angela Schmitt of Florida and Tonya McKenzie of Illinois; three step-sons, James Burdin and wife Malissa, Phillip Burdin and Josh Burdin, all of Illinois; a step-granddaughter, Sarah Burdin of Illinois, and a host of other loving family members and friends.
Memorial services will be held in the Military Cemetery at Bloomfield, Mo., at a later date. The arrangements were handled by the Irby Funeral Home of Piggott.
