She grew up in Rector, the youngest daughter of Linn and Charlie Gibbs. They were active members of the First Baptist Church.
In 1940, she went to New Orleans to study nursing, receiving her RN degree from Baptist Hospital School of Nursing in 1943.
She had the opportunity to go to Saudi Arabia to work for American-Arabian Oil Co., first as an RN and later as a nurse anesthetist, a degree she earned from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. She worked there 25 years.
She enjoyed traveling, visiting 170 countries.
When she retired, she settled in San Diego, where she lived until she died.
Survivors include her nephews, Charles Murphy of Springfield, Mo., and Wayne Collier of Piggott, many cousins and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
Her ashes will be spread over her parents' graves at Woodland Heights Cemetery in Rector.
