Wilma Dean Shelby

Wilma Dean Shelby, 76, died on Thursday, June 21, 2007, at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Mich. Shelby was a long time resident of Ferndale, Mich., residing recently in Madison Heights, Mich. She was born in Piggott, to Ted and Alma Johnson on February 27, 1931.

Throughout her lifetime she was a homemaker and a loving babysitter to many children. She loved cooking, reading, traveling, being involved in her church, and spending time at her home in Higgins Lake, Mich.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Lloyd R. Hering.

Besides her loving husband Glen, she is survived by four children: Neil (Donna) Hering of Berkley, Mich., Sondra Lucas of Royal Oak, Mich., Brenda (Larry) Taylor of Oak Ridge, Tenn., and Michael (Tina) Shelby of Mt. Morris, Mich. She is also survived by her grandchildren Amanda Daniels, Colin Hering, Wendy Forsgren, T. J. Lucas, Jennifer Taylor, Thomas Shelby, Beth Taylor, Tasha Burnett, and, nine great-grandchildren.

A graveside service to bury Mrs. Shelby's ashes will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 6, at the Piggott Cemetery. The service will be performed by Pastor Evelyn Bernice Gipson. Memorial tributes may be made on-line to the American Diabetes Association. Arrangements are being handled by Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home in Piggott.
