Avis Frank Faulk

Thursday, July 26, 2007
Avis Frank Faulk, 83, of Piggott, died Sunday, July 22, 2007, at his home in Piggott.

He was born March 28, 1924, in Green County, to the late William Jet and Myrtle (Hutchins) Faulk.

He will be sadly missed by his wife, Phyllis Faulk; son, Avis Frank Faulk, Jr. and fiancée Teresa Morris of Piggott; grandson, Brian Snyder of Mich.; and granddaughters, Felicia Faulk of Piggott and Brittinee Gray of Fla.; and great-grandson, Cody Westbrook of Kennett.

He was loved and respected by his step-children, Clark Rogers and wife Debbi of Romance, Ark.; Vanessa Burkhart and husband Everett of Poplar Bluff, and Phillip Wagster and wife Carla of St. Francis.

Frank was also Grandpa to nine step-grandchildren, Jennifer Pipes and Alex Eggers; Courtney Little, Dustin Little, Harley Burkhart; Katherine and Emily Graddy; and Hannah and Lily Wagster.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents William and Myrtle Faulk; his brothers, John, Harry, Joseph, and Paul; and his sisters, Ruth, Mary, Christina, Grace, and Florence.

Frank loved his country, proudly serving in WWII in the Philippines. He felt a sense of pride in his heritage and family and often told others how grateful he was to be born in America. He was active in his community, serving on the ASCS committee for more than ten years, and on the Clay County Fair Board Committee. He was a member of the American Legion and a lifetime member of the VFW.

Frank frequently told his family that he was a lucky man to be able to do what he loved, working as a farmer, side by side with his son. He was well known by many as owner and operator of Pfeiffer Farm Supply, a family business that he ran with his wife Phyllis and son Frankie. The store was a gathering place for many that wanted to stop by to swap stories, drink coffee, play a practical joke or two before leaving with their garden seed, fertilizer, or horse feed.

He accepted Christ into his life and was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Piggott.

Visitation was Tuesday, with funeral services following on Wednesday, July 25, in the Hoggard & Sons Chapel with Bro. Kevin Murray officiating. Burial is in Piggott Cemetery. Pallbearers were Vance Whaley, Rodney Foulk, Roger Scott, Gary Dunlap, Michael Mack, and Ronnie Graddy. Honorary Pallbearers were Jim Metz, Lawrence Dees, Carlton Stewart, Clarence Mack, Johnny Schmidt, and Cornelius Hoggard. Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott were in charge of the arrangements.
