Eric D. Janes, 48, of Belleville, Ill., was born April 5, 1958, in Piggot, Ark. He died Sunday, March 4, 2007, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Janes played bass guitar in numerous bands and worked in many facets of the music industry including B&G and Dale's Music Stores. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.

Janes was preceded in death by his father, Ernest Janes; a brother, Phillip Janes; two sisters, Melba Cummins and Phyllis Janes, and a nephew, Jonson Janes.

Survived by his wife, Michelle M. (Flake) Janes; his daughter, Melissa M. Janes of Belleville, Ill.; his mother, Irene (Arnold) Janes of Columbia, Mo.; three sisters, Jo (Jim) Metz of Jackson, Miss., Karen (Charlie) Blackmore of Columbia, Mo., and Marie Wong of California; a brother-in-law, Eric (Susan) Flake of Belleville, Ill.; two sisters-in-Law, Linda Thompson of Paducah, Ky., and Vicky Taylor of O'Fallon, Ill.; and many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorials may be made to Blessed Sacrament School or Hospice of Southern Illinois.

Visitation was Wednesday, March 7, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and Memorial Mass was held Thursday, March 8, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with Father Jack McEvilly, Father Clyde Grogan and Monsignor Marvin Volk officiating. Burial followed immediately at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Belleville, Ill.
