Hazel was born on May 31, 1914, in Clarkton, to George Washington and Mary Sue O'Hara Moore. She was one of six children who all preceded her in death. She married John Leonard Evans on March 23, 1932, in the Langley Community. Together, they had three children: Betty Sue Owen, James Leonard Evans, and Mary Frances Harmon.
Hazel was a lifetime keeper of the home, devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a faithful Christian and a member of the Church of Christ in Piggott.
She was also preceded in death by her husband John; son-in-law Marvin Owen; infant granddaughter Dianna Lynn Owen; three sisters and two brothers.
Hazel leaves behind Betty Sue Owen of Piggott; Jim and Gail Evans of Maypearl, Texas; and Mary Frances and Joe Harmon of Nashville, Ark. She also leaves cherished memories for her ten grandchildren: Johnny and Dawn Owen, Carolyn and Sam Landrum, Judy Owen, Kathy and Perry Giles, Taresa and Jon Hogan, Mickey Evans, Steve and Carla Evans, Angela and Heath Gibson, Vickie and Eddie Beene and Kevin and Tamberley Harmon. Twenty-two Great grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends will also miss her greatly.
Viewing was Sunday and funeral services were held Monday, March 5, in Hoggard & Sons Chapel with Eddie Beene and Richard Akins officiating. Burial is in Piggott Cemetery in Piggott. Pallbearers were Kevin Harmon, Steve Evans, Johnnie Owen, Heath Gibson, Jon Hogan and Sam Landrum. Honorary pallbearers were Adam Landrum, Daniel Landrum, Joshua Owen, Logan Landrum and Erik Harmon. Honorary pallbearers were Adam Landrum, Daniel Landrum, Joshua Owen, Logan Landrum and Erik Harmon. Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott is in charge of the arrangements.
