Alta Mae Crittenden, 89, of Piggott, died Friday, Feb. 9, 2007, at the Piggott Community Hospital in Piggott.

She was born Dec. 2, 1917, in White Oak, Mo., and was the daughter of the late William Wiley Jerome and Laura Irene (Rogers) Gipson.

She was united in marriage to Virgil Franklin Crittenden on Nov. 15, 1936, and to this union four children were born.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil F. Crittenden and one son, Jerry Neil.

She is survived by one son, Jack Crittenden and wife, Regina of Piggott; two daughters, Jonnie Orr and husband, Kenneth of Gulfport, Miss. and Glenda Harryman of Corpus Christi, Tex.; eight grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; two brothers, L.T. Gipson, wife Vahleda of Jonesboro, William W. Gipson, wife, Kate of Ocala, Fla.; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation was Monday, and funeral services were Tuesday, Feb. 13, in the Hoggard & Sons Chapel with Richard Akins officiating. Burial will be in the Piggott Cemetery. Pallbearers were grandsons, Joseph Ryan Crittenden, Jason Ray Crittenden, Kenneth Michael Orr, Paul Franklin Harryman, and Stephen Ray Harryman, and son-in-law, Kenneth Lee Orr. Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott were in charge of the arrangements.
