Rick joined the Army as a volunteer on Oct. 30, 1969 when he was only 17. He was honorably discharged on April 17, 1972 as an E4. He is a Vietnam Veteran and served in the Republic of Vietnam as a helicopter mechanic and repairman from June 15, 1970 to April 17, 1972, which includes hospitalization in conus.
Decorations, metals, badges, citations, and campaign ribbons awarded or authorized were an Army Commendation Medal, Purple Heart, Vietnam Service Medal. Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device 60, National Defense Service Medal, and One Overseas Bar, Expert (Rifle M-14).
Military education included USA Aviation School, and Aircraft Maintenance Apprentice Course.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Thelma Graham, maternal grandparents, Carl and Ethel "Mom" Bricker, son, Steven, brothers, "Crutch", "Sonny", David and Gale, sisters, Helen, Doris, and Tina.
Rick leaves behind his wife, Linda Williams Bricker of the home; daughters, Shelly Allman and husband, Bryan, Kylee Bricker and fiancée, Corey Camp; son, Billy Wright and wife Tanya; four grandchildren, Alicia Allman, Kelsey Allman, Logan Allman, and two month old Lendsi (Bricker) Camp, all of Piggott.
Out of state survivors include sons, Rick Jr., Travis, Aaron, Nicholas and Ronnie; daughters, Tina and Angela; brothers, Donald, Leon, Carl, Jamie, and Jackie; sisters, "Peaches" and Margarette. He touched the lives of innumerable other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held Thursday, Dec. 28, 2006, at the Irby Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services were held Friday, Dec. 29, 2006, at the Irby Funeral Home Chapel in Piggott with Bro. Kim Bridges officiating. Burial followed in the Mitchell Cemetery in Greenway with full military honors.
Active pallbearers were Travis Bricker, Aaron Bricker, Nicholas Bricker, Fred Ort, Bryan Allman, and Byron Williams.
All arrangements were made by Irby Funeral Home in Piggott.
