Mr. Philpot was born Dec. 18, 1926, in Springfield, Mo. He lived most of his life in Campbell, where he was owner and watchmaker of Philpot's Jewelry Store. He was a graduate of Arkansas State University and was an art teacher in the Campbell R-II schools for several years. He was of the Methodist faith. He was a past member of the Campbell Rotary Club, Campbell Ambulance Board, Campbell City Alderman, and Sugar Creek Country Club. He enjoyed reading, golf, pool, and spending time with family and friends.
On Dec. 11, 1953, he married Nellie Fay Woodall in Campbell. She survives of Poplar Bluff. Other survivors include two sons, Michael A. Philpot, of Las Vegas, and Jessie M. Philpot of Campbell; four daughters, Sandra Fort, Donna Nixon and Penny Bradshaw of Piggott, and Becky Moore of Ellington; five grandchildren, Benjamin Philpot, Joseph Philpot, Robert Naes, Gaige Philpot, and Lyndsey Philpot; and three great-grandchildren, Matthew Naes, Abbigail Naes, and Sean Naes.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Paul Pierce and Nova Jane (McBride) Philpot; brother, Billy Mack Philpot; and son-in-law, Darris Bradshaw.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2006, at the Landess Funeral Home in Campbell with the Rev. Charles Cooper officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Campbell.
