Forrest C. Jones

Forrest C. Jones, 87, the son of the late James C. and Sarah "Perkins" Jones of Durand, MI., formerly of Piggott, died Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2006, at Argentine Care Center in Michigan.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and was awarded a Purple Heart serving in World War II. He was employed by General Motors as journeyman welder, retiring in 1977, with thirty years of service. Rev. Jones pastured many General Baptist churches in Michigan, Arkansas, Missouri, and Kentucky. He was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. in Rogers, Ark., and the Morning Star Lodge #556 F. and A.M.

He was married to Margie Mae Book on June 10, 1939 in Kennett.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Anita Jones and Betty Ziemke; three sisters, Willie Gardner, Lula Bradford, and Alberta Williams; and one grandson, James Dewane Jones. He is survived by his wife, Margie Mae Jones of the home; five children, Dewane Jones and wife Josephina of Arkansas, Forrest "Dick" Jones of Texas, James C. Jones and wife Cindy of Davison, Christine Pollok and husband Ronald of Durand, Aaron Jones and wife, Deborah of Mt. Morris; twenty-one grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Masonic services under the auspices of Morning Star Lodge #556 F & A.M. and funeral services were held Friday, Dec. 8, at the Sharp Funeral Home in Swartz Creek, Mich.,with Rev. Theron Russell II officiating.

Services were also held at 11 a.m., Monday, Dec. 11, 2006, at the Irby Funeral Home chapel in Piggott.

Pallbearers were sons, Duane Jones, Forrest D. Jones, James C. Jones, and Aarons Jones; grandsons, Heath Jones, Brain Jones, and Steven M. Jones; and son-in-law Ronald Pollok.

Burial followed in the Piggott Cemetery with full military honors.

Irby Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements in Piggott.
