Leroy Davis Brawner

Leroy Davis Brawner, 63, of Piggott, died Monday, Nov. 6, 2006, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

He was born Dec. 13, 1942 in Pollard, Ark. and was the son of the late Leon and Rose Davis Brawner. He was united in marriage to Joyce Cate Crossfield on June 11, 1994.

He was a retired mechanic for the United Parcel Service and an active member of the Mingo Tractor Club. He enjoyed organizing the Antique Tractor Show for the Clay County Fair and participating in and showing his antique tractor collection in area shows.

He was an active member of New Hope Baptist Church, fulfilling many duties such as serving as an usher, serving as director of opening assembly and willing to serve in any other capacity as needed.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce of the home; one daughter Karen Sharp and Rick of Chesterfield, Mo.; two sons Donnie Brawner and Karen of Springfield, Mo. and Jason Brawner of Ballwin, Mo.; one step-daughter Valerie Walker and Michael of Whaleyville, Md.; four grandchildren: Evan, Ashley, Alexis, and Lauren; one sister Charlotte Leona James of Crestwood, Mo.; one brother John Brawner and Pat of Piggott; two brothers-in-law; Granville Cate and JoAnn of Piggott and Carl Cate and Pat of Walnut Ridge; a sister-in-law Zilla Cate of Piggott and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 10, 2006 in the New Hope Baptist Church in Pollard with Loy Culver and Carl Cate officiating. Burial was in the Piggott Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ira Causey, Jerry Grider, Terry McCleskey, Mark Risby, Raymond Dismukes and Dale Grimes. Honorary pallbearers were Ronnie Neeley, Fred Gross, Glyn Yount, Melvin Holifield and Marion Brown. Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
