Betty Lewis, 79, of Piggott, died Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2006 at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro.

She was born Nov. 4, 1926, in Piggott to Ott W. and Amy Pearl (Looney) McDowell. She was united in marriage to Adrian D. Lewis on Dec. 18, 1948 and to this union three children were born.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Adrian Lewis; two sisters: Lorene Gordon and Ruth Rogers; and four brothers Edwin McDowell, Randal McDowell, Edgar McDowell and J.I. McDowell.

She is survived by one daughter Donna Haley and husband Rickey of Piggott; two sons: Alan Lewis of Piggott and Ray Lewis of Ferris, Texas; seven grandchildren: Amber Harrell and husband Michael, Heather Haley, Nikki Lewis, Brooke Lewis, Jason Burleson, Tyler Higdon and Shannon Higdon; seven great-grandchildren: Cade, Hunter, Micha, Shianne, Avery, Adalie and Colton; one sister Frances Oxley of Piggott.

Visitation was held at 6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 13. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 14 in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Bro. Mike Book officiating. Burial was in the Piggott Cemetery. Pallbearers were Lester Edwards, Chartee Whaley, Gerald Morris, Jim Poole, Tommy Smith and Ronnie Dunlap. Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
