Glen McDoniel

Glen McDoniel, 75, of Cookeville, Tenn., formerly of Piggott, died on Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2006, in NHC of Cookeville, Tenn.

He was born Nov. 6, 1930, at Tuckerman, the son of the late James Robert "J.R." and Clara Fortenberry McDoniel.

Mr. McDoniel graduated from David Lipscomb College (now University) with his bachelor's degree in 1952. He was united in marriage to Marian Milhoan on June 5, 1953.

He began preaching in 1949 and has served churches in Cambridge, Ohio, Piggott, Jonesboro, Macon, Ga., Houston, Texas, and Columbus, Miss. He was with the Jefferson Avenue Church of Christ at Cookeville since 1977. He entered semi-retirement in June 1998 and continued to serve the Jefferson Avenue Church as an associate minister and elder while holding several gospel meetings each year.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Marian Milhoan McDoniel; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert "Bob" and Dorothy McDoniel of Harrisburg; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lynn and John Lane of Cookeville, Tenn., and Nancy and Brian Mansfield of Nashville; one brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Judy McDoniel of Hurst, Texas; a sister and brother-in-law, Jan and Richard Graig of Nashville; and 10 grandchildren, Amy Anglish and husband, Jeremy, Ellen McDoniel, Phillip McDoniel, Rebecca Lane, James Lane, Michael Lane, Nick Mansfield, Zach Mansfield, Gracelyn Mansfield and Annalise Mansfield.

Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 5, 2006, at the Jefferson Avenue Church of Christ with Bro. Buddy Johnson, Bro. Gary Hampton, Bro. Steve Baggett and Bro. Jim McDoniel officiating. Burial followed in Crest Lawn Cemetery.

Hooper-Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
