Steve Edwards, 44, of Piggott died Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2006, in the Piggott Community Hospital.

He was born on Oct. 18, 1961, the son of Lester and Louise Allgood Edwards.

He was united in marriage to Melissa Brawner on May 23, 1987. They had three daughters.

He was a trusted and extremely caring member of the First General Baptist Church in Piggott, where he served in many capacities including: Deacon, the bus ministry, as a Sunday School teacher and was in charge of the audio/video ministry.

He had worked for several years as maintenance supervisor at Piggott Community Hospital.

He is survived by his wife, Melissa Edwards of Piggott; three daughters, Andrea, Kendra and Shana Edwards of Piggott; his father and mother, Lester and Louise Edwards of Piggott; two sisters, Denise McCrillis and husband, Darrell, of St. Francis and Shelia Mayberry and husband, Neal, of Piggott; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Pat Brawner of Piggott; paternal grandmother, Rena Smith of Kennett; grandmother-in-law, Lutie Rosson of Piggott; one sister-in-law, Johniece Johnson and husband, Chris, of Huntsville, Ala.; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 5, 2006, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Joe Payne officiating. Burial followed in the Piggott Cemetery in Piggott. Active pallbearers were Ricky Payne, Jeff Benbrook, Brian Nagy, Delane Burns, Jim Threatt and Chuck Sawyers. Honorary pallbearers were James Featherston, Rick Haywood, Trent Holcomb, Jim Poole, Wayne Featherston, Brad Wright, Arthur Lloyd, Scott McCrillis, Bradley Mayberry and Darren McCrillis.

Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott was in charge of the arrangements.
