Rebecca Lorene (Haywood) Staples, 81, of Piggott died Friday, June 23, 2006, at the Med Center in Memphis.

She was born April 9, 1925, the daughter of the late Herbert and Neatie (Edwards) Haywood.

She was united in marriage to Wayne Staples on Dec. 26, 1945. They had three children.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne; two sisters, Betty Perry and Thelma Moreland; two brothers, Doyne and Vernon Haywood; one grandchild and one great-grandchild.

She is survived by three children, Dorenda Hanna and husband, Johnny, of Wapiti, Wyo., Frank Staples and wife, Donna, of Piggott, and Ricky Staples and Rex Anne of Piggott; two granddaughters, Rebecca Hanna and Stephanie Jett and husband, Robert; two grandsons, Adam Staples and wife, Nicole, and Joey Staples and wife, Ambra; five great-grandchildren, Allison and Madison Crittenden, and Sierra, Devin and Briar Staples; four step-great-grandchildren, Drew, Laura, Will and Beau Jett; five sisters, Almereda Lack, Berneda Dees, June Thompson, Bonnie Perry and Rosalie Lillyroot; four brothers, Jimmy, Jackie, Larry and Leroy Haywood; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 25, 2006, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Charles Carrens officiating. Burial followed in the Piggott Cemetery in Piggott. Active pallbearers were Jack Haywood, Jimmy Haywood, Leroy Haywood, Brett Haywood, Adam Staples and Neil Perry. Honorary pallbearer was Larry Haywood.

Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott was in charge of the arrangements.
