Olive Piland

Olive Piland, 94, of Piggott died June 10, 2006, in the Piggott Community Hospital.

She was born July 31, 1911, in Piggott, the daughter of the late Samuel and Isadora Ellis Haley.

She was united in marriage to Boman Ralph Piland on Dec. 25, 1932. They had two children.

She accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age and attended Call's Chapel General Baptist Church for many years. She was a member of the First General Baptist Church in Piggott. She worked in the Piggott Elementary School cafeteria, where she retired as a cook.

She was preceded in death by her husband on Sept. 19, 1973; three brothers, Carl, Sid and Lester Haley; two sisters, Mary Roberts and Kathleen Linley; and her son-in-law, Don Causey.

She is survived by one son, Harold Piland and wife, Marie, of Piggott; one daughter, June Causey of Blytheville; five grandchildren, Gerald Causey and wife, Valorie, and Kenneth Causey and wife, Carmen, all of Claremore, Okla., Susan Causey Howard and husband, David, of Blytheville, Steve Piland and wife, Debbie, of Piggott and Stan Piland and wife, Nola, of Melton, Fla.; eight great-grandchildren, Tina Piland Gummalauski and husband, Steve, Sara Causey, Lydia and Claire Howard, Dora and Kenneth D. Causey, and Makailey and Miles Piland; three great-great-grandchildren, Wil Whaley, Brady Whaley and Anthony Gummalauski; one sister, Nila Austin of Missouri; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday (today), June 14, 2006, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Joe Payne officiating. Burial will follow in the Piggott Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Linuel Tate, Jerry Grider, Steve Gummalauski, Wil Whaley, B.E. Tate and Chartee Whaley.

Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott is in charge of the arrangements.
