Edward Leon Poe, 76, formerly of Piggott died on Friday, April 7, 2006, at the Life Care Center of La Center, Ky.

He was born Sept. 22, 1929, the son of the late Manny and Maudie (Youngblood) Poe.

He was married to Geneva Pillow on March 29, 1951.

He was a loving husband and father, a member of Hitt's Chapel General Baptist Church and worked as a carpenter building church pews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Geneva Estella "Dude" Pillow Poe; four brothers, Jim Poe, Paul Poe, Bud Poe and Richard Poe; and three sisters, Helen Sink, Norma Jean Smart and Mae McCann.

He is survived by one daughter, Brenda Pemberton and husband, Eddie Dean, of La Center, Ky.; a brother, Harold Poe and wife, Juanita, of Greenway; many nieces, nephews, friends and relatives.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, April 10, 2006, at the Irby Funeral Home Chapel in Piggott with Richard Tippitt and Boyd Wicker officiating. Burial followed in the Piggott Cemetery. Pallbearers were Darren Poe, Josh Poe, Alan Smart, Wylie Smart, Jack McCann and Kevin Baxter.
