Alma Laverne "Aunt Tootsie" Elkins

Alma Laverne "Aunt Tootsie" Elkins, 73, of Piggott died on Wednesday, April 5, 2006, in the Murphy Health and Rehabilitation Center in Piggott.

She was born Oct. 30, 1932, in Campbell, the daughter of the late Oscar Holman and Violet Lee Berry.

She was united in marriage to Norman Elkins on Dec. 6, 1948.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Norman; and two sisters, Clara Reeves and Charlene Weaver.

She is survived by two daughters, Glenda Duncan and husband, Billy, of McCrory and Marilyn Short and husband, Nick, of Fagus; two sons, James Elkins and Mike Elkins, both of Piggott; four granddaughters, Heather Duncan, Leandra Elkins, Kayli Elkins and Madison Elkins; one grandson, Colton Dudley; one great-grandson, Walker Kyle Johnson; two sister-in-laws, Linda Elkins and Mary Johnson, both of Pollard; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 7, 2006, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Billy Duncan officiating. Burial followed in the Piggott Cemetery. Pallbearers were Mike Elkins, James Elkins, Nick Short, Steve Shore, Shelly Elkins and Martin Elkins.

Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott was in charge of the arrangements.
