He was born Sept. 10, 1937, in Malden, the son of Fred and Opal Provance Brandon.
He was a veteran of the United States Army and a member of the Campbell American Legion Post 109.
Mr. Brandon was a graduate of Master Mechanic School in Flint, Mich. He was a master gardener and kept a splendid orchard with 12 flavors of apples, pears, plums and grapes and was a very creative cider maker mixing many flavors. He liked boating and water skiing, and supported the Cardinals and Tigers in baseball. He relocated to the bootheel area in 1982 and worked as an auto mechanic in Campbell and Malden before retiring due to health problems.
He will be highly missed in Campbell because many friends called him "Uncle Jim" around town. He was loved by lots of people and will be missed by all.
He was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Opal Provance Brandon; one sister, Glenda Court; and two brothers, Bob Brandon and Lloyd Brandon.
Survivors include one daughter, Deborah Brandon of Florissant, Mo.; one stepdaughter, Becky Cate of Pollard; one stepson, Patrick Day of Pollard; three grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four sisters, Donna Head of Campbell, Sharon Nash of Malden, Pat Gales of St. Louis and Wanda Carter of Bonne Terre, Mo.; one brother, Fred Brandon of Malden; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 28, 2006, in the Bloomfield Veterans' Cemetery in Bloomfield, Mo. Burial followed in the Bloomfield Veterans' Cemetery.
Landess Funeral Home of Campbell was in charge of the arrangements.
