Lester Sample, 90, of DeQueen, formerly of Nimmons, died Thursday, Feb. 16, 2006, at his home in DeQueen.

He was born Jan. 18, 1916, in Kennett, the son of the late Hider Dave and Zona Mathis Sample.

He was united in marriage to May Halter on Nov. 30, 1935. They had two daughters.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, May Sample in 2003; and two sisters, Ruth Risener and Deloris Hasting.

He is survived by two daughters, Katherine Langlois and husband, Tim, of DeQueen and Veda Strait of Hot Springs; five grandchildren, Kristi Lambert of Dierks, Kari Rachel of Arlington, Texas, T.J. Langlois of DeQueen, Lori Taddonio of Arlington, Texas, and Kevin Langlois of DeQueen; nine great-grandchildren, Melissa, Ashley, Andrea, Brittany, Bethany, Keiton, Courtney, Dylan and Kaleigh; four brothers, Delbert Sample of Nimmons, H.D. Sample of Nimmons, Buford Sample of Yucaipa, Calif., and Dave C. Sample of Victorville, Calif.; one sister, Ione Redman of Piggott; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday (today), Feb. 22, 2006, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel. Burial will be in the Piggott Cemetery.
