Ruby Chisolm Lacy

Ruby Chisolm Lacy died on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2006, at the age of 94. Born on Oct. 25, 1911, in Lepanto, she was the daughter of William Murphy and Anna Robinson.

She married Cody (Bill) Lamar Chisolm and moved to Ann Arbor, Mich., in the 1930's. He preceded her in death in 1964. They had three daughters, Wilma "Polly" (John) Carioba, who preceded her in death in 1988, Jean McFarland of Ypsilanti, Mich., and Mary (Alvin) Shelton, formerly of Ypsilanti, Mich., and now a resident of Florida.

She then married Witt Lacy, where they resided in Ypsilanti, and he died in 1969.

Mrs. Lacy worked for 28 years at King Sealy (Chrysler Corporation) in Ann Arbor. She was very active in her church, the Ypsilanti Church of Christ. She loved to entertain and cook great meals for friends and relatives.

Mrs. Lacy came from a large loving family (five brothers all deceased and four sisters surviving), but dearest to her heart were her three daughters and their children: Dr. Joanna Carioba of Cape Coral, Fla., Barbara Carioba (John) Bowler of Canton, Ga., Erika Carioba of Cape Coral, Fla., Randall McFarland (deceased), Sioux Shelton of South Hutchinson Island, Florida, Steven (Jane) Shelton of Gregory, Mich., and Mark Shelton of Ypsilanti, Mich. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Jake Bowler, Hanna Bowler, Logan Shelton, Kristan Shelton and Abbie Shelton.

Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 12, 2006, at Janowiak Funeral Home in Ypsilanti, Mich. Funeral services were held on Monday, Feb. 13, 2006, at the Ypsilanti Church of Christ with Gary Vaught officiating. Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2006, in the New Hope Cemetery in Pollard with Charles Carrens officiationg.

Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott was in charge of the arrangements.
