She was born in Piggott on Nov. 2, 1928, the daughter of the late Herbert and Neatie Elward Haywood.
She married James Orville Moreland in 1949. They had four daughters and two sons.
Mrs. Moreland was a beautician. After retiring from that profession, she enjoyed quilting, crocheting and knitting.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Orville Moreland in 1983; one sister, Betty Perry; and one brother, Doyne Haywood.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Dennis Tagai, Janet and John South, Shelly Moreland-Hamilton and husband, Dan, and Phyllis and Timothy Malek; two sons and daughters-in-law, Randall and Diane Moreland and Bill and Darb Moreland; five sisters and three brothers-in-law, Berneda and Lawrence Dees of Piggott, Lorene Staples of Piggott, June and Edward Thompson of Piggott, Bonnie and John Perry of DeSoto, Mo., and Rosalie Lillyroot of Commerce, Mich.; four brothers and four sisters-in-law, Jimmy and Joyce Haywood of St. Charles, Mo., Jackie and Karen Haywood of Hot Springs, Larry and Darlene Haywood of Fenton, Mo., and Leroy and Geraldine Haywood of Piggott; one sister-in-law, Wilma Haywood of Piggott; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and a special cousin, Wilma Dean Shelby and husband, Glen, of Madison Heights, Mich.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 11, at Hopcroft Funeral Home, 31145 John R. Road in Madison Heights, Mich., with Rev. George Johnson officiating. Burial followed in White Chapel Memorial Cemetery in Troy, Mich.
Hopcroft Funeral Home of Madison Heights was in charge of the arrangements.
