Harley Abraham Russell

Harley Abraham Russell, 88, of St. Francis died on Monday, Jan. 23, 2006, at his home.

He was born Jan. 17, 1918, in St. Francis, the son of the late Rex and Nellie (St. Clair) Russell.

Mr. Russell was of the Baptist faith. He served his country in World War II. He retired from the United States Air Force and later retired from a civil service job.

He was united in marriage to Bobbie Joe Blagg on July 3, 1956. They had one son and two daughters.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by several brothers.

He is survived by his wife, Bobbie Joe Russell of the home; one son, William "Bill" Harley Russell of Piggott; two sisters, Debbie Gardner and husband, Johnny, of Crockett and Tammie Causey of St. Francis; seven grandchildren, Ashley Midkiff and husband, Aaron, Justin Hooten, Brock Russell and wife, Fallon, Dillon Causey and wife, Cassie, Cory Causey, Zackary Russell and Barrett Russell; four great-grandchildren, Alexis Russell, Cheyenne Hooten, Dakota Hooten and Emma Grace Hooten; one brother, Jackie Russell and wife, Janet, of Campbell; and one sister, Nelda Lewis of McDougal.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 26, 2006, at the Irby Funeral Home Chapel in Piggott with Bro. O.H. Brooks officiating. Burial followed at the Gravel Hitt Cemetery in St. Francis. Pallbearers were Justin Hooten, Brock Russell, Dillon Causey, Cory Causey, Zackary Russell and Barrett Russell.

Irby Funeral Home of Piggott was in charge of the arrangements.
