Bessie Bare

Bessie Bare, 92, of Piggott died Friday, Jan. 20, 2006, at the Murphy Health and Rehabilitation Center in Piggott.

She was born April 22, 1913, in Clifty, Tenn., the daughter of the late Usless and Bell Lawson.

Mrs. Bare was a member of the Christian Church and was a nurse. She enjoyed fishing and gardening.

She was united in marriage to George Sherman Cates in 1928. He preceded her in death. They had one child. She was united in marriage to Robert Bare in 1962 and he also preceded her in death.

She was also preceded in death by a sister, Willene Summerfield; a brother, Scott Lawson; and a great-grandson, David Monroe.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary Robinson of Hemet, Calif.; a granddaughter, Diane Cowley of Omaha, Neb.; a great-granddaughter, Rhonda Kelly of Tomball, Texas; and three great-great-grandchildren, Christina and Heather Kelly and Christopher Monroe and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2006, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Charles Carrens officiating. Burial followed in the Piggott Cemetery. Pallbearers were Trey Wooten, Bobby Wooten, Richard Claus, Bobby Shanklin, Tom Sneed and Tommy Hardcastle.

Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott was in charge of the arrangements.
