She was born Oct. 17, 1906, in Pollard, the daughter of the late George Louis and Dollie Lee Higdon Conley.
She was united in marriage to Chester Gibson on July 28, 1945, and he preceded her in death on Oct. 20, 1969.
She retired from teaching after 45 years in the Piggott area. She was a member of the First Baptist Church. She was active in the Piggott Community Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, Clay County Retired Teachers Association, the Relay for Life and many other organizations.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Alma Renfro; three brothers, Jeffie, Youil and Burnis Conley; two nephews, Doyle and Robert Renfro.
She is survived by nieces and nephews, Gary and Linda Conley of Pollard, Jack and Jennie Blake of Piggott, Janice Spence of Piggott, Howard Conley of Fort Smith, Thomas and Donna Conley of Knobel, Donald and Thelma Renfro of Bend, Oreg., Julius and Mary Renfro of Piggott, Junius and Cathy Renfro of Granite City, Mo.; many great-nieces and great-nephews; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 12, 2005, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Loy Culver and Charles Carrens officiating. Burial followed in the New Hope Cemetery in Pollard. Pallbearers were Marty Conley, Tony Conley, Donnie Spence, Gary Conley, Thomas Conley and Treaver Shelton.
Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott was in charge of the arrangements.
