He was born March 13, 1925, in Ferris, Texas, the son of the late Iris Claude and Della Mae Cloud Turner.
He was united in marriage to Icey Bowling on Dec. 21, 1984.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Debra Tolbert; and one sister, Barbara Ann Nalley.
He is survived by his wife, Icey Turner of Piggott; three daughters, Pamela Hernandez and Elizabeth Turner, both of Porter, Texas, and Diane Fisk of New Caney, Texas; 16 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two stepdaughters, Deborah Dempsey and Laura Ann Mayon, both of Liberty, Texas; one stepson, Larry Couch of Liberty, Texas; two sisters, Gladys Hefley of Havanah and Frances Gleeson of Dallas, Texas; one brother, James Turner of Irving, Texas; two sisters-in-law, Laura Gross and Kay Ludlows; a brother-in-law, Johnny Bowling; many nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.
Memorial services were held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2005, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Anthony Dowdy officiating. Burial followed in Porter, Texas.
Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott was in charge of the arrangements.
