Ruth "Evetta" Willis-Huffman

Ruth "Evetta" Willis-Huffman, 80, of Granite City, Ill., died on Friday, Nov. 25, 2005, at Stearns Nursing and Rehab in Granite City.

She was born Aug. 7, 1925, in Thompsonville, Ill., a daughter of the late Ameal and Ada (Lambly) Johns.

She married George W. Willis on May 29, 1942, in Jackson, Mo., and he preceded her in death on Aug. 31, 1988. She then married Howard Huffman in July of 1990 and he also preceded her in death.

She and her husband, George, owned and operated Willis Flower Shop in Granite City, Ill., for over 30 years. She was a member of the Professional Business Woman's Association and will be remembered for the love of her family, especially the time she spent with her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Joyce Johnson; two brothers, Everett Johns and Elmer "Gail" Johns; and two sisters, Georgie Seeds and Bonnie Kirk.

She is survived by one daughter, Linda G. Ollis of Pontoon Beach, Ill.; five grandchildren and spouses, Dana L. Ficker of Granite City, Ill., Darin D. Ollis of Granite City, Ill., Diana and Tim Patterson of Granite City, Ill., Stephen K. and Monica Johnson of Connecticut and Erick T. and DeDee Johnson of Panama City, Fla.; 10 great-grandchildren, Brandi, Luke, Zachary, Bo, Aryiel, Heather, Ashlie, Blake, Arista and Preston; one great-great-granddaughter, Samantha; one sister, Donna Graves of West Frankfurt, Ill.; two brothers, Jimmy Johns of Colorado and Jerry Johns of West Frankfurt, Ill.; and other extended family and friends.

Funeral services were held at 7 p .m. on Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2005, at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road, in Granite Ciy, Ill., with Rev. Henry Crippen officiating. A private burial service will be held Wednesday (today), Nov. 30, 2005, at Wanda Cemetery in South Roxana, Ill.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

Irwin Chapel of Granite City, Ill., was in charge of the arrangements.
