David Watson

David Watson, 53, of Corning died on Thursday, Nov. 3, 2005, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould.

He was born Aug. 26, 1952, in Piggott, the son of Norman Leon Watson and Roberta Lee (Baker) Watson.

He was united in marriage to Patricia Ann Shelton on June 29, 1972, in Corning.

Mr. Watson was the owner of Watson Oil Company and a farmer in Corning. He was an avid sportsman who loved playing with his grandchildren.

He attended First Baptist Church in Corning and was a veteran of the Army National Guard.

He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Ralph Shelton Jr.

Survivors include his wife, Patty Watson of Corning; two sons, Chad Watson and wife, Kelly, of Corning and Aaron Watson of Corning; five grandchildren, Hannah, Chase, Kelsey, Kenlie and Daniel; his mother and father, Roberta and Pete Watson of Corning; one brother, Jim Watson of Corning; his mother-in-law, Georgia Shelton of Neelyville, Mo.; brother-in-law, Eric Shelton; and a sister-in-law, Judy Taylor.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 6, 2005, at the Ermert Funeral Home Chapel in Corning with Rev. David Richey officiating. Burial followed in the Corning Cemetery at Corning. Pallbearers were Terry Walley, Billy Hoggard, Lary Brownfiel, Randy Bounds, Chuck Miller, Billy Tyler, Kevin Smith and Clyde Garner.

Ermert Funeral Home Inc. of Corning was in charge of the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Arkansas Baptist Children's Home or to the Corning First Baptist Church Family Life Center.
