Janetta C. Binkley Cossey

Janetta C. Binkley Cossey, 64, died Saturday, May 7, 2005, in Georgetown Memorial Hospital in Georgetown, S.C.

She was born Feb. 9, 1941, in Piggott, the daughter of Frances Johnson Binkley and the late Joseph Osborn Binkley. She graduated from Piggott High School and Williams Baptist College in Walnut Ridge.

She continued her education and taught elementary school in Flint, Mich. In later years she moved back to Piggott, attended Practical Nursing School and worked in the hospital at Kennett. She then moved to Jackson, Mo., where she worked at Dale Nursing Home.

Due to ill health, she retired and moved to Georgetown to be near her son. She was a member of the Fireside Ministries working with the youth, president of the Georgetown Housing Authorities, did volunteer work in different civic activities and taught an independent Bible study class for shut-ins and the elderly twice a week. She loved the Lord and helping others.

Her hobbies included quilting, oil painting, crafts and silk flower arranging. She has a busy active life before cancer took her home to be with the Lord.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Cossey of Kennett.

Survivors are her former husband, Donald Howard Cartwright of Flint, Mich.; a son, Don Cartwright, and grandson, Nathanial, of Georgetown, S.C.; her mother Frances Johnson Binkley, formerly of Piggott, of Chattanooga, Tenn.; one brother, Darrell Binkley of Piggott; nieces, nephews and many other friends.

Funeral services were held at Graham Funeral Home in Georgetown with Rev. William Anderson officiating. Burial followed in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens.

Graham Funeral Home of Georgetown was in charge of the arrangements.
