He was born April 29, 1910, in Pollard, the son of the late Thomas and Jennie Hall Irwin.
He was united in marriage to Gladys Robbins on Sept. 1, 1936. She preceded him in death on Dec. 23, 1986.
He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Naomi Orey and Gertrude Bradshaw.
He is survived by one daughter, Gwen McKenney and husband, Gary, of Pollard; one niece, Demetra Derdeyne and husband, Jack, of Fort Worth, Texas; two nephews, Philip Orey of Pollard and James Orey of Arizona; two step-grandchildren, Garrett McKenney of Cabot and Rachel Morgan and husband, Mark, of Harrisburg; one step-great-granddaughter, Gretchen Morgan; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 26, 2005, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Rev. Loy Culver officiating. Burial followed in the New Hope Cemetery at Pollard. Active pallbearers were John Brawner, Nick Yount, Don McNeeley, Don Holifield, Gary Conley and Gaylon Burkman. Honorary pallbearers included Doyne Holifield and Sonny Jackson.
Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott was in charge of the arrangements.
