Jean R. Vancil

Jean R. Vancil, 77, of Holcomb died Saturday, May 14, 2005, in the Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock.

He was born Dec. 18, 1927, in Cape Girardeau, the son of Ernest Randolph Vancil Sr. and Maude Mae Loyd.

He was united in marriage to Jackie Ann Watson on Dec. 19, 1953, in Beech Corner, Mo. She preceded him in death.

Mr. Vancil was a retired farmer and a member of the First Baptist Church in Holcomb. He was a United States Army Veteran. He served as a member of the Board of Directors of Pemiscot-Dunklin Co-op and the Board of Directors of M&A Electric Power Cooperative.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son; and one brother, Ernest "Pete" Randolph Vancil Jr.

He is survived by a special companion, Shirley Harris of Holcomb; two sons, Michael Jean Vancil and wife, Sheri, of Piggott and Robert Scott Vancil and wife, Koren, of Kilgore, Texas; one daughter, Lee Ann Forbus and husband, Ron, of Holcomb; one brother, Jack Loyd Vancil and wife, Winnie, of Campbell; three grandchildren, Kelly Garrett, Jarrod Vancil and Brayden Vancil; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 17, 2005, in the Landess Funeral Chapel at Campbell with Rev. Randy Vaughn officiating. Burial followed in the Loyd Cemetery in Holcomb.

Landess Funeral Home of Campbell was in charge of the arrangements.
