Frances Arends Brannan

Frances Arends Brannan, 92, of Columbia, Mo., died Wednesday, May 25, 2005, at Bluff Nursing Home in Columbia.

She was born Nov. 30, 1912, in Malden, the daughter of the late Elwood D. Johnson and Ima Moore Johnson.

She was married to Joseph N. Arends II, he preceded her in death on Nov. 25, 1965. Her second husband was Dr. Lloyd Brannan, he also preceded her in death.

Mrs. Brannan was a retired piano teacher. She attended Southeast Missouri Teachers College, the University of Missouri at Columbia and the University of Colorado in Boulder, Colo. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Jonesboro and also served as the church organist for the First United Methodist Church in Malden for over 40 years.

She was a member of the United Methodist Women's Club, the Adene Keller Music Club, the DEREIGN Club and the Treble Clef Club.

In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Roselynn Hobbs and Margaret Sparks.

She is survived by two sons, John Warren Arends and wife, Martha, of Jonesboro and Joseph Nick Arends and wife, Ruth Ann, of Columbia, Mo.; three grandchildren, Rowe Arends and wife, Becki, of Holts Summit, Mo., Captain Patrick Ryan Arends and wife, Susan, of Germany and Kristi Dawn Arends of Seattle, Wash.; two great-grandchildren, Kaleb Arends and Caden Arends; one step-daughter, Judy Brannan Graves of Little Rock; and two step-granddaughters, Julie and Allison.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, May 30, 2005, in the Landess Funeral Home Chapel in Malden with Rev. L. Glenn Pettes officiating. Burial followed in Park Cemetery in Malden.

Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Jonesboro or the First United Methodist Church of Piggott.

Landess Funeral Home of Malden was in charge of the arrangements.
