Bobby Joyce Campbell

Bobby Joyce Campbell, 78, of Piggott died Saturday, May 15, 2005, in the St. Bernards Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro.

She was born April 7, 1927, in Piggott, the daughter of the late Robert "Bob" E. and Muriel J. McLeskey Cox.

She was united in marriage to James Delaine Campbell on August 13, 1944. They had two daughters.

Her life as a homemaker was dedicated to her family, church and community. She was a member of the First Baptist Church for 60 years, involved in the Women's Missionary Union, Saturday morning bus visitation, Tuesday morning prayer group and was also a Sunday school teacher for most of those years.

She was also active in early adulthood in the Piggott Parent Teacher Association and the Piggott Hoe and Grow Garden Club and served on several community committees. Mrs. Campbell faithfully organized and worked year after year with the evening crew at the Piggott Fourth of July kitchen.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Delaine Campbell on April 26, 2002; one daughter, Mary Carolyn Campbell Speer on July 18, 1985; and one brother, Jimmy Mack Cox.

She is survived by one daughter, Joyce Elaine Campbell Griffin and husband, Don, of Pheonix, Ariz.; four grandchildren, Laura Lynn Rogers Harwood, Crystal Nicole Allen Speer, Sean Griffin and Shane Griffin; three great-grandchildren, Cody Harwood, Carolyn Elizabeth Speer and Dylan Harwood; one sister, Mary Francis McDaniel of Paragould; several cousins and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday (today), May 18, 2005, in the First Baptist Church in Piggott with Dr. Kenneth Threet officiating. Active pallbearers will be Sean Griffin, Shane Griffin, Don Griffin, Bobby Shanklin, Bill Threet, Richard Cox, Marcus McDaniel and Don McDaniel. Honorary pallbearers will be the Tuesday Morning Ladies Prayer Group, Marthann Staples, Lutie Rosson, Camilla Cox, Josie Brandon, Heloise Kelley, Thelma Johnson, Euvela Williams, Mary Jesse Greene, Linda Muse and Wanda Norred. Burial will follow in the Piggott Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church in Piggott or a charity of the donor's choice.

Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott was in charge of the arrangements.
