Carmen Harris (Shaver) Templeton

Carmen Harris (Shaver) Templeton died on Saturday, April 9, 2005, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Walnut Ridge.

She was born Oct. 9, 1922, in Ingram Township of Arkansas, the daughter of Carter and Myrtle (Harris) Shaver.

She was married on Oct. 25, 1941, to Cecil Keel Templeton. They had five children, Carmen Beatrice, Walter Cecil, Guy Calvin, Cecilia Sue and Mary Carol.

She was a faithful member of the Reyno Church of Christ. She was an active member of the Arkansas China Painters Club (Northeast Arkansas Chapter at Reyno) for several years holding various offices. She retired from Pro Group in Pocahontas and was a BRAD Head Start grandmother, which she enjoyed very much.

In addition to her parents, Carter Shaver and Myrtle (Harris) Kimble; and step-father, Earnest Kimble; she was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Cecil Keel Templeton; two daughters, Carmen Beatrice Aden and Mary Carol McCain; two grandchildren, Deborah Michelle Aden and Michael Edward Aden; one sister, Enid Evans; and one brother, Wilburn Kimble.

She is survived by two sons, Walter and wife, Linda, of St. Peters, Mo., and Guy and wife, Paulette, of Winfield, Mo.; a daughter, Cecilia Tilley of Reyno, Ark.; one brother, Edward Kimble and wife, Jane, of St. Louis, Mo.; and two sisters, Connie Viess and husband, John, of Rockport, Texas, and Mary Lindsey and husband, Bill, of Biggers, Ark. She also leaves behind 11 grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren (with another on the way); several nieces and nephews; and many more family members and friends.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 12, 2005, in the Reyno Church of Christ with Darrell Fears, Dennis Templeton and Edward Kimble officiating.

Burial followed in Nelson Cemetery near Reyno. Pallbearers were Guy Templeton Jr., Mike Templeton, Walter Templeton Jr., Joshua McCain, Herbie Turner III, Brian Templeton, Kevin Michael Hawthorne and Doug Dyers. Shane Templeton served as an honorary pallbearer.

McNabb Funeral Home of Pocahontas was in charge of the arrangements.

Memorials may be made to St. Bernards Hospice or Paragould Children's Home.
