Florence Davis

Florence Davis, 89, of Piggott died Wednesday, June 30, 2004, in the Piggott Community Hospital in Piggott.

She was born Feb. 9, 1915, in Pollard, the daughter of the late Henry Clay and Virgie Pollard Nettles.

She was united in marriage to Ernest Gower and they had two children. She was united in marriage to V.L. Davis who preceded her in death on Dec. 12, 1980.

She was also preceded in death by eight brothers; one sister; three grandsons, Michael John Gower, Bobby Clay Gower and Charles Gower; and two step-sons, Phil Davis and Nick Davis.

She is survived by two sons, Bob Gower and wife, Rachel, of Piggott and Tom Gower and wife, Judy, of Pollard; two grandsons, Mike Hanrahan of Ypsilanti, Mich., and Scott Gower of Stuttgart; four granddaughters, Tammy Causey of Piggott, Laura Ann Cox of Crystal City, Mo., Shannon Gilbee of Austell, Ga., and Tanya Hayes of Columbia, Ky.; two sisters, Dora McGhee and Rachel Ridgeway, both of Piggott; eight great-grandsons; eight great-granddaughters; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 2, 2004, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Kevin Murray and Gary Hancock officiating. Burial followed in the New Hope Cemetery in Pollard. Pallbearers were Zach Gower, Scott Gower, Donald Foster, Philip Toombs, Edward Thompson and Spencer Permenter.

Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott was in charge of the arrangements.
