PHS marks '09 homecoming

PHS celebrated homecoming 2009 last Friday, and despite cold and wet conditions throughout the day, things cleared-off in time for the annual pre-game ceremony at Parker Field. Sadly though, the annual homecoming parade fell victim to the wet weather Friday afternoon...

The Piggott Community Center will take on the look of a holiday wonderland next week as the Piggott Area Chamber of Commerce hosts its annual banquet and dinner meeting. The event, set for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20, will again feature a table decorating contest for chamber members. This year's theme is "An Old Fashioned Christmas."...

It's been a tough season for local farmers. Heavy spring rains delayed the planting of nearly every major crop in the area. A cool, damp September also slowed crop growth. Now, with harvest approaching and more rain in the forecast, farmers are being frustrated once more...

Saturday they'll begin the quest for yet another trip to the 3A state volleyball tournament at Harrison..but unlike recent seasons this time the Tribe will have to play their way into a spot...
Junior Mohawks top Hoxie in key conference battle

The Piggott junior Mohawks rebounded from a lackluster performance at Harrisburg the week before, which resulted in a 6-12 loss to the Hornets, and traveled to Hoxie Thursday night where they beat the talented Mustangs 18-14. With the win the Tribe moves to 4-1 overall and 3-1 in 3A-3 play, and back into contention for a conference title...
